Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking to support the clinical education of RN, CNA, Medical Sonography, Phlebotomy, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Tech, and MLT students in health programs at Haywood Community College or Southwestern Community College.

Commitment:

Students selected for the Haywood Healthcare Scholars Program will be awarded a scholarship for funds covering full tuition, books and supplies, background check, and drug screen costs. Upon completion of the program at Haywood Community College or Southwestern Community College, the student will become employed on an at-will basis by either Haywood Regional Medical Center, or one of the Hospital-owned physician practices or outpatient locations. The employment term will be based upon scholarship and program length in years.

Student selection will be made based on the following criteria:

Minimum 3.0 GPA
Good behavioral standing throughout the program
Preference will be given to residents of Haywood or Buncombe counties
Preference will be given to qualifying staff members of Haywood Regional Medical Center
Two letters of recommendation with once from faculty member and one from health care professional
Participation in panel interview
